I just started reading The orphan master’s son by Adam Johnson. About North Korea. I liked books like Kind 44 about life in Soviet Russia. I hope this book will deal with life in North Korea. One of the most bizarre countries in the world.

I finished the orphan’s master. It was not as good as I expected it to be. The picture of North Korean society it painted was depressing, but not described in such a way that it touched me. Now I wonder: is that due to the book or am I growing numb for descriptions of depressing … Continue reading Reply To: Books

In bruges: a lot more talking than I expected, but pretty cool. Repo men: not bad, but not very good either. And I watched the first two episodes of Orphan Black. Cool stuff, so I’ll watch a couple more.

I stopped watching Orphan Black after 3 or 4 episodes, don’t really know why, but it grabbed my attention, but could not hold it… Started watching True Detective, first episode was interesting. Will def watch some more. I also started watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which was somewhat funny. Furthermore I watched a really bad comedy with … Continue reading Reply To: Movies / TV shows part II

Just watched the first episode of Orphan Black, a BBC America serie about a girl that sees someone who looks a lot like herself commit suicide and then she takes over her life (with all problems in it). First episode was damn good, gonna watch more soon. It’s on Netflix by the way!

Watching Orphan Black on Netflix, a BBC SciFi thriller series. Six episodes into the ten episode first season, it’s brilliant. Lead actress Tatiana Maslany is amazing, playing several roles.

Orphan Black sounds interesting, need to check that out! Saw “Pacific Rim”. Pure blockbuster entertainment, very American haha. But it had me entertained for sure. I mean, giant robots and aliens, what’s not to like? πŸ™‚

Orphan Black is pretty cool indeed. I need to get season two asap… πŸ˜€ But I can say the same thing on Vikings and a couple more. Will be watching Sabotage this evening. Looking forward to that, as I am really in the mood for some mindless entertainment.

just finished the final episode of Orphan Black. Wow, this is great stuff! Bring on season 2, pls… πŸ˜€ what will I start watching now: falling skies S02, continuum S01 or Carnivale S01? Hmmm… so many options…

Saw 300: rise of an empire this weekend. What a let-down. I really enjoyed 300. This sequel doesn’t do that movie any justice. Everything that worked on 300 didn’t work on rise of an empire. Oh well… I finished Orphan Black season 2 today. Looking forward to season 3. Great show! The final episode felt … Continue reading

Is season 2 of Orphan Black better than season 1? Because I didn’t like it that much.

@Dennis I have finished The Orphan’s Masters Son by Johnson. And like you I wasn’t that overwhelmed. Much of that probably has to do with the narrative. Johnson’s story is a bit too complex and abstract at times to really make an impact. I think he tried too much to write a very high brow … Continue reading Reply To: Books
